In 2023, Shay Turman's life turned pivotal when she decided to participate in a local pageant. Known for its tradition of encouraging contestants to champion a social cause, the pageant required Shay to select a platform she would passionately advocate for. Amid her search for a cause that resonated with her, Shay stumbled upon an issue that, until then, was unbeknownst to her: period poverty.

Intrigued and concerned by the discovery that menstrual products were among the least donated items in charity drives, Shay delved deeper into understanding the implications of period poverty. She learned about the countless individuals who missed school, work, and other opportunities simply because they couldn’t afford or access basic menstrual hygiene products. The reality that something as natural as menstruation could have such a profound impact on someone’s life struck a chord with Shay.

Motivated by this newfound awareness, Shay dedicated her platform to battling period poverty. Her campaign, initiated on the pageant stage, was not just about raising awareness but also about tangible action. Shay began organizing drives to collect and distribute menstrual products to those in need, partnering with local shelters, schools, and community centers to ensure wide-reaching impact.
